Connecting Costa Rican education.

The classroom, the family and the student in one suite: planning, attendance, grading, conduct and real-time communication. The MEP framework comes solved, built in. And paperwork hours go back to being class hours.

Workload measured through internal surveys of 23 MEP primary and secondary teachers · April 2026

The deal is simple

ACDEMIC absorbs the 10 hours.
The teacher signs and edits.

Pedagogical judgment always belongs to the teacher. Nothing reaches a family or a document without the teacher seeing it first.

3–5 h Lesson planning, every week Decree 45509-MEP · 2026 templates
30 min Attendance with official codes, every day Article 37 · REAC 2026
2–4 h Grading, per assessment Article 40 · REAC 2026
Communicating with families, no set hours Article 10 · REAC 2026

The next sections walk through those four burdens, one by one.

3–5 h per week

Lesson planning with a template that changed again

The 2026 circular brings new templates, each subject with its own format, and the study program lives in a PDF hundreds of pages long. Building it in Word, week after week, is the heaviest burden of all.

DVM-AC-CIR-0003-02-2026 · Decree 45509-MEP

With ACDEMIC
The official 2026 templates are already inside With the study program curated by subject and grade — the teacher picks content instead of transcribing it.
KADE proposes strategies and indicators Based on that selection and the real program. The teacher edits, changes or discards — nothing is saved without the teacher's sign-off.
Exports to PDF or Word In whatever format the school asks for. What used to take a whole afternoon is now review and export.
30 min per day

Roll call that has to be tallied afterwards

Marking on paper is quick. The expensive part comes later: transferring everything, applying Article 37, chasing excuse notes and letting the family know the student didn't show up.

Article 37 · REAC 2026

With ACDEMIC
Roll call inside the lesson, with the 5 MEP statuses One tap per student. The family gets the notice instantly, with nothing else for the teacher to do.
Justifications arrive from the guardian's app With the official MEP cause and its evidence. The teacher approves, rejects or asks for more — everything in writing.
The Article 37 grade calculates itself And approving a justification recalculates the gradebook instantly. Nothing left to tally at the end of the period.
2–4 h per assessment

Components, weights, and the spreadsheet that breaks

Each subject with its components and percentages, each activity with its instrument, each grade weighted by hand. One formula error and somebody's average comes out wrong.

Article 40 · REAC 2026

With ACDEMIC
Activities are born with their rubric or scale Five official instruments. Students submit from their app, with an automatic reminder 24 hours before.
Grade by criterion — the gradebook does the arithmetic REAC components and weights applied the same way every time. The traffic light shows who is in the red before closing, not after.
Written tests? KADE builds them with the teacher Using the MEP's official item taxonomy. Every question passes before the teacher's eyes before existing for anyone else.
Grade by grade at period closing

And in the end, it all goes into the SEA

After calculating everything on their own, the teacher still has to transcribe it into the MEP system: grade by grade, student by student, in the exact format the system accepts.

SEA · Ministry of Public Education

With ACDEMIC
One exported file, ready to upload to the SEA The format came from validating it in a real classroom, not from a manual. Transcribing is over.
Grades already in the SEA? They import too What lives in the SEA comes into ACDEMIC without retyping it.
Report slips and the official gradebook in PDF Per student or complete, in the MEP format, for the file or for the principal.
“A different grade” when a parent disputes

What was communicated to the family — and when?

Weeks pass between closing, a correction and the dispute. If the grade changed along the way, proving exactly what was communicated becomes word against word.

Article 165 · REAC 2026

With ACDEMIC
When the period is formalized, grades freeze What was communicated is stored as-is. A later correction creates a new version — the original is never touched.
Every family gets its per-subject report In their app, with the component breakdown and a downloadable PDF. No one can claim they never knew.
The closing warns before it arrives Automatic reminders, and the weekly analysis flags anyone entering the risk zone while there is still time to act.
No backup when they ask for it

The infraction left in a notebook, or nowhere at all

The school asks for the backup behind a conduct deduction, or a guardian disputes it — and there is nothing. The family was told over WhatsApp, from memory, or never.

Title III · Arts. 136–168 · REAC 2026

With ACDEMIC
Infractions are logged with the official catalog The REAC's plus the school's own rules. The family receives the communication instantly, with date and time.
The guardian taps “I acknowledge” And that record stays with the teacher. For serious infractions, ACDEMIC respects due process: nothing is asserted until it is final.
The backup comes out as a formal PDF With the communication record and signature lines. The day they ask for it, it prints.
No set hours family communication

The guardian group chat that writes at all hours

Communicating with families is part of the job — but today it happens on the teacher's personal phone, at any hour, with no record of anything.

Article 10 · REAC 2026

With ACDEMIC
The routine announces itself Absences, new assignments, due-date reminders, period grades, conduct. The teacher sends none of those messages.
Chat respects office hours The teacher defines when they are available. Outside those hours, messages wait in a queue — not on a personal WhatsApp.
The family sees everything in their own app Grades, pending work, attendance and the child's calendar — including events the teacher creates: a field trip, a meeting, with automatic notice and no printed circulars. Fewer “how's it going?” — they already know.
Day 1 classroom-ready

Other platforms arrive empty. Someone has to build them.

Creating categories, loading the calendar, defining weights, inventing templates. The teacher ends up as the system administrator before teaching a single class.

Minimal setup · only what matters

With ACDEMIC
The study programs come pre-curated Subject by subject, grade by grade: someone already read that hundreds-of-pages PDF, refined it and left it ready. The teacher walks in, picks and plans.
The regulation is our job, not the teacher's Assessment components with their weights, 2026 templates, scales, the school calendar. Every MEP change is studied and incorporated — keeping up stops being one more task.
A suite where the teacher feels at home All the teacher brings is what only they know: their schedule, their group and their judgment. Everything else was done before they arrived. Their only job: teaching.

Meet KADE

The pedagogical assistant that works for the teacher

KADE is ACDEMIC's AI. It is not a chatbot: it doesn't wait for instructions or clever replies. It knows the study programs, the templates and the regulation, and it always works under the teacher's signature.

  • Proposes mediation strategies and indicators for lesson planning.
  • Builds written tests with the MEP's official item taxonomy.
  • Protects data: no free-form prompts, and personal information is redacted before touching the model.

Principles we don’t negotiate

Why ACDEMIC and not just any platform?

MEP-native, no shortcuts

Not a foreign product adapted for Costa Rica. Built on the Costa Rican regulation: REAC 2026, DVM-AC templates, accommodations. When the MEP changes, so does ACDEMIC.

No one else closes the loop

Teacher, family and student in a single real-time flow. Every classroom action becomes automatic communication with families.

Judgment belongs to the teacher

ACDEMIC proposes; the teacher decides. No unreviewed automatic sends, no free-form prompts to the model. KADE generates from versioned templates, and the teacher signs.

Free for families. Always.

Parents and students never pay. Only whoever provides education pays: the individual teacher or the institution. This principle is irrevocable.

Privacy by design

Law 8968 compliance: encrypted data, explicit guardian consent, audited access, and personal data redacted before touching any AI.

Everything leaves a record

Every grade, notice and infraction stores who, when and which version. Grades that freeze when communicated, acknowledgements with date and time, a history of every change. The day someone disputes, the backup exists.

What teachers get back

The math, with each teacher's own numbers

The baseline comes from real teachers — and the calculator below runs the math with each teacher's sections, students and subjects.

10+ h of weekly paperwork the REAC demands, measured with practicing MEP teachers
23 primary and secondary teachers surveyed · April 2026
Weekends the calculator translates the hours into weekends recovered per year

And one thing that is not a number: everything ACDEMIC generates is signed by the teacher. No unreviewed automatic sends, no AI loose with minors’ data.

Let's talk

How it starts

Starting is not a project.
It’s one afternoon.

No migrations, no mandatory training, no waiting on anyone. The teacher signs up and teaches with ACDEMIC the next day.

Create the account

Free and self-serve at acdemic.com — no sales call, no mandatory demo, no credit card. Five minutes.

Create the section

Subject, grade and the weekly schedule. The study programs, components and templates were already waiting inside.

Invite the group

One code for students and their guardians — or the full roster as a CSV in one go. Tomorrow's first roll call already notifies the families.

Grades already started in the SEA? They import — nobody starts from zero for switching to ACDEMIC.

What people ask us most.

How is ACDEMIC different from MagicSchool, Khanmigo or Brisk?

Those products are great but they are not MEP-native. None of them understand REAC 2026, Costa Rican lesson planning, significant curricular accommodations or the DVM-AC templates. ACDEMIC was built by reading every article of the regulation, and when the MEP issues a new circular, we incorporate it.

Are my data and my students data protected?

Yes. We comply with Law 8968 (Personal data protection) and APRODHAB. Data encrypted in transit and at rest. Explicit guardian consent for processing a minor data. Audit log on every access to sensitive data. Before sending anything to the LLM, we redact all PII.

What happens when the 100 founder seats run out?

The default on sign-up automatically switches to the Profe Buena Nota plan. The 100 founders keep their price frozen for life no matter how much regular prices rise. No public plan will be able to have a promotional price below the founder price.

Does it work offline?

Yes, for what matters most: taking attendance, editing already-created lesson plans, recording grades. Everything is queued and synced when you reconnect. What requires a connection: new KADE generations and sending notifications to families.

Can I migrate my old data (Excel, notebooks, other systems)?

Today we support importing student lists via CSV. For old lesson plans, historical attendance and grades, we are building importers. If your school uses SICAI, assisted migration can be arranged.

What do I do if I find an error in a KADE generation?

Every generation is logged with the versioned template. You report the error from the app, and the pedagogical team adjusts the PromptTemplate, not the LLM. It is the exact opposite of "giving the model more prompt": we fix the source.

And if I am a student or parent? Do I pay anything?

No. Never. It is an irrevocable principle: only those who provide education pay (individual teacher or school). Parents and students always access their app for free.
